Above all, our Belpaese is the country of “good taste” and love of life that have a tradition stretching back thousands of years and pervade everyday life. Abroad, it is called the Italian style because it animates the national craftsmanship from the shoemaker in a remote village in Tuscany to the haute couture workshop in central, multicultural Milan. Jewelry making is no exception to this rule, and over the centuries jewelry craftsmanship has had its own peculiarities and districts where it has grown and developed: how can we not mention cities such as Venice, Vicenza, Arezzo, Valencia and Naples. Each place has its own specialty but one thing is common: handmade craftsmanship that the rest of the world can only admire. Venice in particular is famous for gold in its richest, most opulent and baroque forms, for creating intricate filigrees, the famous “Manin” style necklace, and for making the famous Moretti so beloved by Hollywood VIPs. Eredi Jovon has been making Venetian and Italian jewelry since 1934 by going out to rediscover ancient traditions, finding jewelry hidden in the paintings of the Doge's Palace and often bringing them back to life. My family maintains the tradition of handmade jewelry in Italy.

1 - Let's start with the typical Venetian bead that recalls the winding of the tops of the ships of the Serenissima ready to trade with the Far East. It is definitely one of the best-selling models and among the most sophisticated elegant and shiny models of Italian goldsmithing. The necklace has a texture that appears to be woven on a gold cable. 2- Over the years this style has evolved going into the “new Venetian” or “pop corn” necklace very much in vogue in recent years. The design is very similar but after the adoption of many designers the production in Venice has turned to more modern and contemporary solutions.

3 - But let's go back to the past. How not to mention the typical necklace called “box chain”. There are various versions and diameters but it is certainly a necklace that you will wear very happily and without many problems of breakage.

Materials and Craftsmanship

I will now describe the materials with which we make our Italian necklaces

1 - First and foremost, 18-karat gold, which admits of no compromise. Your Italian grandmother will have no doubt: an Italian necklace to be such must be made of yellow gold and type 750%. There are no alternatives, it's that or better nothing! For us Italians, gold is a symbol of wealth and well-being, and as one must marry in church the necklace must be in 18 karat.

2 - Silver is equally loved in our country and is in fashion especially among young people who prefer a less noble material but where you can more easily invest something to have a more structured, heavy and, consequently, durable necklace. Of course, imitations such as gold-plated necklaces are forbidden in this case even though the current price of gold favors appearance over substance.

3 - White gold is available alternative but it is used very little.

4 - There are also coral and turquoise necklaces for both women and men so our offerings range in this direction as well.
