Italian Necklaces
Handmade in Italy
Italy is not only the country of history, monuments, good food and good wine. Above all, our Belpaese is the country of “good taste” and love of life that have a tradition stretching back thousands of years and pervade everyday life. Abroad, it is called the Italian style because it animates the national craftsmanship from the shoemaker in a remote village in Tuscany to the haute couture workshop in central, multicultural Milan. Jewelry making is no exception to this rule, and over the centuries jewelry craftsmanship has had its own peculiarities and districts where it has grown and developed: how can we not mention cities such as Venice, Vicenza, Arezzo, Valencia and Naples. Each place has its own specialty but one thing is common: handmade craftsmanship that the rest of the world can only admire. Venice in particular is famous for gold in its richest, most opulent and baroque forms, for creating intricate filigrees, the famous “Manin” style necklace, and for making the famous Moretti so beloved by Hollywood VIPs. Eredi Jovon has been making Venetian and Italian jewelry since 1934 by going out to rediscover ancient traditions, finding jewelry hidden in the paintings of the Doge's Palace and often bringing them back to life. My family maintains the tradition of handmade jewelry in Italy.
Because a true Made in Italy Gold necklace (yes, the real thing) is a combination of ancient skills, “know how” and the ability to learn from past mistakes. It is ultimately a knowledge handed down from father to son that has not allowed itself shortcuts and will always turn out unique and created for the person who chose it. A gold necklace made in Italy and done well (with the criteria that accept no compromise) will be yours forever or at least until the day you give it to a loved one and it passes on to a new generation.
Our Italian Necklaces Collections
In this section you will find the most famous and iconic Italian necklaces that Eredi Jovon has decided to highlight in its offerings.
1 - Let's start with the typical Venetian bead that recalls the winding of the tops of the ships of the Serenissima ready to trade with the Far East. It is definitely one of the best-selling models and among the most sophisticated elegant and shiny models of Italian goldsmithing. The necklace has a texture that appears to be woven on a gold cable. Eredi Jovon offers this model in gold and silver, creating both a men's and a women's model.
Probably this kind of chain is the perfect buddy for the Italian horn necklace
2- Over the years this style has evolved going into the “new Venetian” or “pop corn” necklace very much in vogue in recent years. The design is very similar but after the adoption of many designers the production in Venice has turned to more modern and contemporary solutions.
3 - But let's go back to the past. How not to mention the typical necklace called “box chain”. There are various versions and diameters but it is certainly a necklace that you will wear very happily and without many problems of breakage.
4- What models, on the other hand, ensure greater longevity? Definitely the models that feature a link chain. They are usually the most durable and we offer them in round and square links.
5- Finally, let's move on to the necklaces that are usually worn by men because they are precisely the most resuistant and the least in need of specific care: the “figaro” necklace and the ‘cuban’ or "groumette”.
6- of course we also offer necklaces with coral and cameos because they have been the specialty of Eredi Jovon since 1934. These materials are the core business of our family and we are also proud to have become official certifiers of the Italian ASSOCORAL society.
Materials and Craftsmanship
I will now describe the materials with which we make our Italian necklaces
1 - First and foremost, 18-karat gold, which admits of no compromise. Your Italian grandmother will have no doubt: an Italian necklace to be such must be made of yellow gold and type 750%. There are no alternatives, it's that or better nothing! For us Italians, gold is a symbol of wealth and well-being, and as one must marry in church the necklace must be in 18 karat.
The Cornicello in fact must be put on a Gold necklace!
2 - Silver is equally loved in our country and is in fashion especially among young people who prefer a less noble material but where you can more easily invest something to have a more structured, heavy and, consequently, durable necklace. Of course, imitations such as gold-plated necklaces are forbidden in this case even though the current price of gold favors appearance over substance.
3 - White gold is available alternative but it is used very little.
4 - There are also coral and turquoise necklaces for both women and men so our offerings range in this direction as well.
The common trait remains attention to detail and exclusive production in Italy and where possible in Venice.
5 - a little space of its own I would like to devote to the antique necklaces that say 100 percent that our store is approaching its centennial birthday.
6 - a special mention I would like to make for the pearl necklace that fits perfectly with our patented Eredi Jovon system that allows each of our cameos to also be used as a necklace clasp for your most elegant evenings.
Necklace Styles
But what styles do we offer on our Made in Italy necklaces ?
Our selection ranges from necklaces made to hang from, the manocorn, an Italian good luck charm, a simple coral pendant or your favorite cameo to stand-alone designs.
Here are the simpler, lighter gold models that are ideal for your cornicello while models such as the figaro or curb are made to be worn alone or to hang a gold horn on, but with abundant men's sizes.
We also offer models that already include both pendant and necklace because after nearly one hundred years of experience we have found the ideal solutions for each of our necklaces and for each of our iconic Italian good luck charms of the tradition.
Here is that the men's cornet will have its perfect necklace in the curb model while for simple and gift models we will match a gold-plated silver necklace so that your gift will be perfect for the person you give it to.
Choosing the Perfect Italian Necklace
But how to choose your perfect necklace?
The first thing I want to do is to make you aware of the main question you should ask yourself: when will I wear this necklace? i.e.
1 - I will use it every day with my favorite Italian good luck charm
2 - I will use it occasionally
3 - I am a careful person and I will take it off if I take a shower or go to the gym or spa
4 - last but not least what budget I want to allocate to my necklace
These are all factors that will affect your choice because, with the price of gold having reached almost 100 € per gram, and with the fact that aregtno and coral require more care than the more precious metal (which my grandmother used to say "never takes stain") all these variables must be considered.
If we talk about the regular Italian necklace length we can say one thing for sure: choose the one you feel most comfortable with. It is true that for thin necklaces, preferably designed for a woman we vary from 16 to 20 inches, for thicker ones, commonly thought of as men's, we stick to lengths between 20 and 24 inches. However, each necklace can be safely associated with other products you find on the site: from the silver or gold necklace that can be paired with a beautiful cameo or cornet to the pearl necklace that can be associated with cameo brooches that feature our patented Eredi Jovon system.

Italian Necklaces | Question and Answer
Q: What are the most popular Italian necklaces?
A: Let's talk about the most popular necklaces; usually those with engraved cameos or the necklaces from which to hang a good-luck horn in the Italian tradition. No shortage of course of gold chains and simple necklaces with coral, turquoise or the, evergreen, pearl beads.
Q: What types of Italian necklaces exists?
A: Italian craftsmanship offers a wide range of necklaces to wear on their own or as the perfect match for your favorite pendant: whether it’s a classic Italian cameo, a coral heart, or the timeless good luck horn from Neapolitan tradition.
Q: What necklaces do Italian women wear?
A: In Italy, women wear a bit of everything when it comes to jewelry. Let’s say that people from more refined backgrounds tend to prefer classic, substantial pieces. Others may go for more trendy designs, sometimes at the expense of quality. At Eredi Jovon, we lean toward the classic — because the root of that word is the same as “class”… and class, sadly, is becoming a rare attitude.
