Handcrafted in Italy
A family affair since 1934
For nearly one hundred years Eredi Jovon has been creating hand-engraved cameos mounted on yellow gold rings in different shapes and styles. Each piece is handcrafted and is for all intents and purposes a unique and inimitable piece of jewelry: you alone will have it and it will always speak of you!
The noble metals we use are 'yellow gold (in its various carats such as 9 kt/375% or 18 kt/750%) and silver in its best 925% quality. As already mentioned several times the cameo setting is itself an artistic work because in our workshop the framing of each piece of jewelry is also created totally by hand.
Our Gold Cameo Rings Collection
Let us now discuss the cameo rings we are able to offer you and the breadth of styles you will encounter in our collection.
The Materials for our Cameo Rings
The materials we use for our cameos are the traditional ones: shell; hardstones such as agate and lava; lapis lazuli; turquoise; and coral.
A shell ring is undoubtedly a classic piece with perennial charm. That said, nothing prevents a skilled jeweler from innovating and exploring new directions to satisfy an ever more sophisticated, discerning clientele. The modern woman loves to wear a cameo informally every day—whether at a business meeting or on a weekend outing. A ring with a blue cameo will perfectly complement your everyday look and will be far easier to wear in daily life.
The subjects of engraved cameos
The glittic works that we mount on our cameos range from the most common subjects such as the representation of Roman goddesses like "Spring," "Flora" or "Aphrodite," or the iconic model created by Eredi Jovon "Grace of Venice" going to touch on symbolism with floral, dreamlike and symbolic engravings. Also noteworthy are subjects such as Medusa (in neoclassical and Caravaggio's version), Jupiter, Mercury and the “Birth of Venus.”
The Mounting Styles
For even more unique and special rings in addition to the classic Venetian-style mount (the Flora model) we have added more minimal styles that make the cameo inside the ring stand out (the Primavera model) . Here we present simple mounts such as men's seals that mount cameos representing Hercules or Zeus.
Noteworthy is our model with three cameos joined together that we offer in different colors: there is the engraved shell variant (carnelian and sardonyx), the blue agate variant with our top model (Grace of Venice), and there are variants that combine engravings in turquoise, coral and mother-of-pearl.
In short, gold takes center stage and makes in your cameos the stars of your outfit!
Male or female Cameo Rings?
Without a shadow of a doubt, the very first cameo ring was a man’s ring and was likely used to sign documents—it was essentially a seal.
The cameo actually originated with the Romans as a men’s ring, rooted in the signet rings so dear to our ancestors. A gold cameo ring can therefore adorn either a man’s finger—seeking a jewel beyond the ordinary—or a woman’s pinky—yearning for a chic accent that makes her look personal and unconventional. In short, anyone who wears a cameo is not an ordinary, banal person: the very act of slipping it onto your finger speaks volumes about you and your taste for the extraordinary.
Yellow Gold Cameo Rings
A gold cameo is a classic and evergreen piece of jewelry!
Yellow is definitely the color that goes best with carnelian shell (the most commonly used for classic cameos) because its intense color gives a glamorous touch and an antique flavor to your jewelry.
Gold cameo rings thus range from the “classic grandmother's ring” with timeless appeal to modern-looking glass paste models embellished with emeralds, diamonds and rubies. As mentioned several times, the settings are also handmade by artists such as Otello, Uncle Nunzio and Ciro who have made their lives a masterpiece dedicated to this art. What would a cameo ring be without its precious gold setting that enhances its value?
White Gold Cameo Rings
To order, we are also able to create white gold settings in both 9kt and 18kt bringing your cameo ring to have a more understated style related to modern times.
Certainly sardonyx shell is the material that best suits this very modern type of mount that is occasionally embellished with brilliants and colored stones such as sapphires, emeralds and rubies. White gold cameo rings are intended to meet the demands of an increasingly globalized and embellished market.
Rose Gold Cameo Rings
Last but by no means least, let us talk about the rose-gold setting. This type of metal calls to mind the antique Victorian and Edwardian cameos, when the taste for chocolate-hued sardonyx shells was paired with softly matte, pale-pink mounts that enhanced the artistic work itself. Remember: you don’t buy a painting for its frame, and if the artwork is beautiful, it never needs excessive adornment.
Why Choose Eredi Jovon?
Choosing Eredi Jovon is an act of awareness—it means opting for a genuine product made in Italy in a world that offers only vulgar imitations. Selecting one of our pieces is a declaration of personality; it is embracing the philosophy of a family that has practiced this craft for nearly a century. You will connect with a real family: Orietta or Ugo (our AI assistant active 24 hours a day) will always respond to you—even when it’s night in Italy and, like everyone else, we’re asleep. In short, choosing an Eredi Jovon cameo is a smart decision that ensures your jewelry truly embodies “Made in Italy.”

A little of History
What era are cameo rings from?
Cameo Gold rings have spanned multiple eras.
so let's go in deep with antique cameo rings!
The earliest cameo rings can be traced back to the signet seals of the Roman “pater familias,” but they became especially popular during the Victorian period. Today, Eredi Jovon continues to create and sell exquisite, hand-made cameo rings in the finest Venetian tradition, proving that the beauty of these jewels is truly timeless.
How to tell if a cameo ring is real?
A truly original cameo is typically engraved from a shell, featuring delicate engravings and intricate—but never overly precise—details. Be wary of cameos with flawless, machine-made details or materials that look “plastic.” To ensure authenticity, turn to experienced jewelers like Eredi Jovon, who guarantee the quality and craftsmanship of their pieces with bespoke certificates.
How do I identify a Victorian cameo?
Victorian cameos often depict austere female profiles with period hairstyles, draped garments, and floral details. They are typically crafted to represent real individuals (with all their unique traits and imperfections) using a peach-colored shell known among connoisseurs as carnelian. For an accurate appraisal, consult an expert or visit the Eredi Jovon website for examples of authentic Victorian gold ring cameo.
