These amulets have for centuries been handcrafted in our “Bella Italia” by skilled artisans who create them by following some important and specific rules. This amulet also while always bringing good luck must be activated to boost its power against at the “Evil Eye.”
We’ll see further the magical formula to activate and boost the Italian Horn Necklace!
The Eredi Jovon Gold Horn Necklace Collection
Eredi Jovon's horn necklace is something special: handmade, with different but always apotropaic materials, in different colors, with different styles of workmanship and different finishes.
The gold used is 18 karat, the most precious and therefore the most magical and powerful of metals: the one that really works for your luck!
So here we go from the simple smooth gold horn to the “sandblasted” workmanship, from the hornlet with twisted workmanship to the reflective horn with “mirror” workmanship.
All of these Italian good luck charms are made in our workshops with techniques that are always innovative in order to reach an increasingly refined clientele.
Along with gold, Italian red coral, the quintessential lucky charm material, is also used. In fact, coral has always been a material considered auspicious and a harbinger of every good especially on a physical level: it practically brings health to the wearer and is red like the beautiful things in life (including love and wine).
Recently at Eredi Jovon we also thought of creating cameos inspired by the Italian cornetto by engraving this symbol of good luck on our carved pendants and brooches.
Our Gold Horn Necklaces
For the cornicello, the most famous Italian good luck charm, the shape is important (it should be as crooked as possible, as we said, and it should be reminiscent of an animal's horn) but the materials from which it is made are certainly no less important. As mentioned many times gold is the quintessential material symbolizing wealth so a horn made of this metal will attract wealth and material fortunes. However, in this section we also present the hornlet with gold and coral that along with money (which never hurts) will also attract health, life force and love.
We therefore offer horns
- in 18 kt yellow gold
- in white gold (for those who want the precious metal but do not want to flaunt it)
- in gold and coral to call wealth and health together
- in gold and diamonds for a prosperous and bright life
- in yellow gold with worked pattern in order to mirror envy and Evil Eye
The meaning and History of the Italian Horn Necklace
The Italian cornicello is a traditional amulet that traces its origins to Roman antiquity, for some even to Paleolithic times. It is a symbol of protection against negative influences and the malevolent eye of fate and envy that Italians call “Malocchio”.
Why the horn is a significative gift
Created with the most precious and apotropaic materials, gold, silver and coral it is a talisman to be given and worn with pride and a hint of belief in ancient superstition, just in case it works.
To wear on yourself it is a joy; to give it as a gift is a gesture of love toward someone dear to you. Today, this small but powerful amulet is still a protagonist of the Italian craft tradition, combining in fact: folk superstition, family tradition and style of the Belpaese. It tells us a story of protection and luck but also of cultural identity that transcends the centuries.
Why choose an Eredi Jovon Gold Horn Necklace?
In our Venice workshop, we think craftsmanship, tradition and attention to detail are key to creating valuable objects that speak of our beautiful country. We think it is important that a little piece of Venice is always by your side even if you live far away. While we have industrial processes, our gold twisted horns are made strictly in Italy using only high quality materials such as 18K gold and hand finishing techniques. Another material we hold dear is the genuine Italian red coral which combined with gold multiplies the beneficial mighty powers of the horn by adding an auspiciousness of health to that of wealth.
Gold Horn Necklace Care and Cleaning
Certainly gold, especially in its 18-karat quality, is the material that requires the least attention. Gold is gold and never get dirty (was used to say my grandma).
The all-gold cornicello lucky charm of your necklace can therefore be safely worn all the time and even taken to the beach or shower. We always recommend a little care however.
A separate issue applies in the case of the white gold lucky horn, which needs quite a bit more care since the rhodium patina that is applied to give the characteristic bright color can be affected by time and some specific chemicals (watch out for SPAs).
Even more recommendations we feel like giving you in case you bought a red coral Italian horn: this magnificent and magical material needs special care and should be treated with much respect. Showers, sea, creams, perfumes and everything acidic should be scrupulously avoided. Coral simply loses its luster but to make it beautiful and attractive again you will need a real expert: us!
