The family business created by Luciano Jovon in 1934 has been working jewelry for nearly one hundred years, respecting the principles of the Italian cameo tradition: each engraving is strictly handmade with the proper patience and respect for the time that must be invested to do things right.

The Materials for our Cameo Jewelry
Below it is very important to emphasize the use of high-quality materials for each cameo made.
Traditional shell cameos (Carnelian or Sardonica, Tigrina, and other lesser-known ones) are created, and at the same time, rarer materials such as coral, lapis lazuli, turquoise, and malachite are also used. Also innovative is the production of blue agate cameo jewelry.
Some of our products have over the years become typical and iconic products of Venetian craftsmanship and “handmade.” Certainly one of our best known pieces of jewelry is “Flora” a cameo necklace in gold inspired by the goddess of flowers and Spring.
As for the setting and craftsmanship in creating pendants, brooches and rings, 925% silver and by stylistic choice 375% yellow gold are used.

Basically "What is a cameo?"Cameos are special jewellery made by engraving a material that can be a stone, a shell, a coral or even a piece of glass (in which case they are called "carvings") making it a small work of art to carry with you. Cameos can be likened to early photographs and perhaps, since the earliest examples portrayed famous people, they can be considered the first “selfie” in history.

Certainly a propitious period for this art was the Graeco-Roman period (we have beautiful evidence of these works at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples- MAN for short).
A great rediscovery occurred in the 500s with the Renaissance so much so that many cameos can be identified in works by Raphael, and Botticelli).
With the advent of Neoclassicism everything connected with ancient Urbe came back powerfully into fashion and with it the artifacts of glyptics that are nothing more than miniature sculptures that can be worn.
Last but not least was the Victorian Era that gave birth to cameos that we can still find today as little gems hidden in the fine workshops of yesteryear.
