Material Used for this Cameo

The material used for this masterpiece is the ancient cornelian shell (Cassis Rufa - well known for its warm-toned color (orange-reddish), which is ideal for engraving due to its contrasting layered color structure).

The setting is in 375% yellow gold. Why we don't use the 18 kt.? After long years of research to improve our products, we realized that 9 kt gold is definitely more suitable for cameo mounting as it is stiffer and harder to break. The result? Happier and much more satisfied customers.

I'll tell you more, we often uncovered realities that had a lot to say in terms of quality: I'm thinking of Otello a 70-year-old engraver who along with the humility that only the great have, holds the ability to engrave seals as the ancient Romans did 2000 years ago. I think of Antonio who inquires at the Marciana Library in Venice to unearth the ancient jewels of the Serenissima's past and then re-invents them with modern taste. I think of Nichola still carving ebony heads and Yuri designing Blackamoors. All these guys works with us and we personally love to work with them cause quality is the goal we share daily.
